If you want to open a business, I would suggest you:

  1. Major in business and minor in psychology or gain business education from continued education and work experience.
  2. Be computer literate in word processing, an accounting program, data processing and surfing the web.
  3. Hire an excellent, trustworthy accountant.
  4. Have a written business plan.
  5. Be organized--personally and in business.
  6. Show up and be on time for all appointments.
  7. Start small.
  8. Pay yourself first and save/invest 10% of each paycheck.
  9. Mentor your staff.
  10. Hire slowly and carefully and fire quickly, when necessary.
  11. Be active in the Chamber of Commerce and the community-participate and contribute.
  12. Meditate daily-at least 24 minutes (one minute for each hour of the day) alone and in silence.
