Steve Stewart
KEYT –TV Meteorologist
Re-Cap of His Presentation to the SB Council for Self-Esteem - 01/22/04
Self-esteem, as defined by the National Association for Self-Esteem, is the experience of being capable of meeting life’s challenges and being worthy of happiness. Steve Stewart alluded to many experiences in his life that assisted him in gaining high self-esteem. These areas were re-caped after his speech by Betty Hatch, the founder of the council.
Steve was brought reared in a small community by a loving family.
His family had high expectations of him.
He wanted to make his dad happy because he “loved him to death”.
His parents were strict with him and made sure he did was he was expected to do and this taught him discipline.
Studying acting a stand up comedy taught him poise and confidence. He learned to laugh at himself.
He was fortunate to have a mentor when he became an intern at a TV station.
He became gainfully employed in a glamorous position at a very young age. He was a recognized celebrity in the town.
He learned the value of education and a worth ethic from his father.
As a stand up comic he noted how applause built his self-esteem and boos torn him down.
He became professionally competent as a comedian; a weather graphics technologist; and a meteorologist.
He has received very impressive awards five years in a row.
He loves and respects his wife and children.
He is giving back by mentoring others and by teaching children to do what they fear.
Steve Stewart is open, fun, generous and most comfortable being himself!
