Betty and Stan Christmas 2002

You may have noticed that this year's true miracle story is arriving a bit late. Actually we were waiting patiently for THE miracle to occur when I ate a questionable piece of pork and became quite ill on November 16th. After being in bed for three weeks, I had lost 7 pounds and had no energy or interest in buying or decorating a tree or even sending out cards and the miracle of '02 had NOT occurred. We attended one pre-Christmas party in Santa Ynez and stayed overnight. On our way in the morning, I looked down at my left hand, squealed and said,"Stan I have lost one of my wedding bands; hand me your phone"! When the Inn's receptionist answered, I asked if anyone had found a white gold wedding band. She hesitated and then replied curiously, "Why there IS a ring right in front of me on the desk-it is just plain with no stones." She then found my name and the date of our wedding inside and said she would have it delivered to Stan's office that day!

Ten days before Christmas, my energy was still low and Stan was really tired of waiting on me for so long, so we booked a trip to Deer Valley where he could ski and I could read and rest. It was a marvelous trip and perfect until I noticed while unpacking on our return, that once again, my wedding band was missing. I was too upset to tell Stan. I called the hotel, explained my plight and, on a hunch, requested that they search the top drawer in the tiny kitchen. That was on Thursday. After two days and not hearing a word, I had resigned myself to having another band made. Today (12/28/02) Stan answered the phone and was told my wedding band had been found exactly where I had asked them to look and that they would send it to me tomorrow!

So what did we learn from the Miracle of 2002? Perhaps that people are inherently honest, that rings should fit securely and that what goes around lovingly for twenty years will be around miraculously through both sickness and health.

May the rings in your life encircle you with love and happiness,

Betty and Stan
