The most beautiful tree

We have bought our Christmas trees from Anthony for so long that he waits on us himself. When I requested a Blue Noble, he pointed to one on the ground and asked his assistant to open it. As the young man spread the branches he exclaimed, "Mira, no mas, hay una rana de Oregon! (Look at this, it's a tree frog from Oregon!) Understanding, I inquired fearfully, "Es vivo?" (Is it alive?). "Claro que no, no es posible!" (Of course not, it's not possible.) Then the little frog leapt into my hand and I proudly asserted, "That's my tree and that's my frog." Stan and I didn't bother looking at the tree, however, it turned out to be perfect for our room and the most beautiful we have ever had, standing strong and healthy still after the new year. As for the frog, we named him Feliz Navidad. He quacked like a duck, causing Boo, the bird, to squawk like the frog and Bounce and Bubble to bark like the dogs they are. The atmosphere and sound effects in the kitchen were sonorous to a degree. He could change color at the blink of an eye. Some of you know I collect frogs. When Feliz joined our family, I had 145 frog things. Our single living frog stayed in a large, round, terrarium, where he loved to climb as close to the top as possible before falling to the pebbles below. His belly formed a HEART as he HUGGED the sides of his crystal home. Come to think of it, isn't that what the holidays are all about?

P.S. Born free, after five months of dining on live crickets, Feliz disappeared from his bowl as mysteriously as he had appeared to us in the Christmas tree. Either he's hopping around Hope Ranch looking for Felicia or he's gone to the great lily pad in the sky. But one thing is certain, his magical Holiday story will never die.
